Living in smaller spaces often requires a lot of redesign. I probably change my studio’s design every month to find the ideal furniture and get the most out of my small space. Despite my best efforts, I usually have to choose an object between three different pieces of furniture just because my studio no longer fits. This often makes it difficult to combine functionality with style. Of course I would much rather sit in the love seat above the desk, but where would I do my work? BloomingTables, known as “the world’s first line of home furniture”, creates household tables that also serve as indoor gardens in order to do justice to this dilemma.
It seems nowadays that people are trying to get closer and closer to nature, even within their own four walls. Biophilic design is on the rise again, and many of us who live in smaller spaces want to enjoy the outdoors indoors too. BloomingTables is a new biophilic desk design that embeds live plants in each table just below the transparent glass surface. BloomingTables are available in four versions: desk, coffee, entrance area and side tables. Each table is equipped with an acrylic tub that keeps the plant life, soil and water in an airtight, designated space so we never have to worry about leaks. The acrylic tubs are filled with gravel and activated carbon to absorb water and avoid the possibility of overwatering plant life. Once the soil layers are filled we can create our own arrangement of succulents, ferns, herbs, or even pebble artwork, great for those who love to cook but don’t have enough space for a desk and herb garden. The transparent glass surface adheres to suction cups and can be lifted to water the plant life underneath.
Each pine table comes in a variety of sizes but has the same features, including a waterproof floor pan and an opening drain valve so your plants cannot become overwatered. BloomingTables can support up to 400 pounds depending on the size ordered, which means this table design has successfully merged functionality with style. Everything from the lacquered steel hairpin legs and the top of tempered 6mm glass to the endless biophilic designs possible, reflects BloomingTables’ commitment to bringing the beauty of nature into interiors.
