SUSQUEHANNA TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WHTM) — Three theaters at the Susquehanna Township Regal Cinemas have been temporarily closed due to bed bugs.
According to the Susquehanna Municipal Police Department, the Municipal Codes Department has ordered these theaters to be closed at the cinema.
These theaters will remain closed until the situation is resolved through pest control, according to the police department.
On Wednesday afternoon, Susquehanna Municipality Public Safety Director Robert Martin told abc27 News that police received complaints about bed bugs on November 15. Evidence of bed bugs had been discovered and Regal had taken steps to remedy the situation.
The director of public safety says those theaters are scheduled to reopen in time for shows on Wednesday night.
The Regal Cinemas website continues to show several Wednesday afternoon screenings at the Harrisburg location.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) consider bed bugs to be public health pests, although they are not known to transmit or spread disease.
