The residents were very happy about such a generous donation from the local garden center

Residents of a nursing home in Rothley, Leicester, enjoyed some gardening with the help of the Mountsorrel Beavers Scouts.

Children between the ages of six and eight have teamed up with Mountview residents to create an eye-catching rainbow-themed garden design in the garden that pays tribute to Social Welfare, the NHS, and other health care workers who are at the forefront of Covid-19 Pandemic have worked.

The residents spent time outdoors with the beavers and gave useful gardening tips, e.g.

Resident Betty Allen said, “I really enjoyed our visit to the garden from the Beaver Scouts. It’s nice to see that the clubs still exist as I have really fond memories of my days with the scouts weeding some plants and weeds and leaving their imprint in our garden. I’m really proud of them and they definitely deserve their new gardening badges – all the best to them. “

The local garden center Debbies, based in Rothley, gave the Mountview team a free hand to shop till they drop by offering over 30 cups of hyacinths, pansies and tulips in a variety of colors to match the theme. The house also received many packages of sunflower seeds to grow over the summer.

The rainbow garden will be one of the centerpieces of the Mountview’s Gardens in Bloom competition entry, a competition in all Ideal Nursing Homes that encourages both employees and residents to work together to live their love of nature.

Boy Scout Director Alison Harris, who arranged the gardening club and presented the Beaver Scouts with their gardening achievement badges, said, “It was wonderful to see our Beavers work with the people of Mountview to create such a beautiful tribute garden.

“It’s been a long time since we could take on new badge work, so it was all the more special that the residents cheered on our beavers when we all handed out gardening badges. I know the kids will be back soon for more exciting activities, challenges and Participate in fundraisers. “

Residents were helped by the beavers to create an NHS tribute garden patch to earn their “Gardeners” badge.

Mountview Home Manager, Stacie Weaver, said, “The visit from the Beaver Scouts was a real highlight for all of us. They have such a wonderful ‘can-do’ attitude and it really showed in the work they did in our garden. Since her visit, we’ve had great feedback on our NHS-themed flowerbed and I look forward to showing it off to our Ideal Gardens in Bloom judges and explaining how much fun we had to assemble. “
