HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – When you travel, you don’t want to take bed bugs home as souvenirs. Here are some tips to help prevent these pests from being taken home.

Travis Morton, Morton Pest Control Owner, says the small, brown insects feed on blood and find their meal through body odor. When staying in a hotel make sure you know where to look for bed bugs.

“You’ll be in close proximity to the bed or on the couch when you have someone who regularly sleeps on the couch,” Morton said.

Morton says avoid putting your suitcase on the bed and be careful even in a well-rated hotel.

“If you stay in a hotel you have to assume that they are there,” said Morton.

And if you see any small bugs crawling around, don’t hesitate to let the hotel know right away.
