The color of your sheets could possibly be attracting bedbugs

Like dust mites, bed bugs are parasites that make their home in our sheets. According to a study conducted in the United States in 2016 by researchers from the University of Florida and Union College, certain colors visibly promote the multiplication of parasites.

According to the NHS, bed bugs can be dark yellow, red, or brown. Adults are about 5 mm long.

Signs of bed bugs are: bites – often in areas that are exposed while you sleep, such as your face, neck and arms, blood stains on your bedding – from the bites or crushing of a bed bug, small brown stains on bedding or furniture (bed bug droppings).

Bed bugs don’t like light

Scientists have shown that Bed bugs don’t like light above all and in general seek refuge in darker, red, or black places.

The parasites particularly prefer the color red because their fellows have exactly this color.

How to avoid bed bugs

The bite of these 5 millimeter fleas is particularly uncomfortable and causes red spots and itching.

To avoid this, you should ventilate and wash your bedding and regularly choose bright leaves like white, yellow or green.

And if you’re unlucky enough to have been bitten by bedbugs, the NHS recommends putting something cool on your bites, keeping the affected area clean and not scratching it. Bug bites should go away in a week. See a pharmacist or family doctor if the bites are particularly painful or if the redness has spread around the bites.
