Tuesday evening, May 4th, is the penultimate opportunity to learn more about starting a successful home garden in the virtual series presented by Leigh Rovegno, Executive Director of the Audubon Community Nature Center. The boy pictured is watering the garden at Lincoln Elementary School in Denver, Colorado, where Rovegno previously ran a school gardening program.

Leigh Rovegno, Managing Director of the Audubon Community Nature Center, will present the fifth in her virtual seven-part series “Starting a Successful Home Garden” on Tuesday, May 4th, from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

The presentation will focus on planting seedlings and seeds outdoors.

Before Rovegno came to Audubon, he worked on various organic farms in New Hampshire, Italy and Colorado.

She shares her tips and tricks on which supplies are available, which favorite types of seeds are available and how the available garden space can be optimally used.

The programs are aimed at beginners or advanced gardeners, including children 9 years and older, who are interested in maintaining their green fingers.

Different topics are dealt with each time. No prior attendance is required to be part of this class or any of the classes remaining through early June.

With no more than nine other participants, the programs provide an opportunity to learn gardening from a professional without leaving your home. At the end of the course, participants will be able to ask questions, interact and receive detailed notes to ensure the success of a home garden.

The fee is $ 8 or $ 6 for Nature Center members and children ages 9-15. Paid reservations for the May 4th class are required by Saturday May 1st. Register by going to AudubonCNC.org and clicking through “Upcoming Programs.”

Internet access and prior download of the Zoom app are required to participate in this virtual program. To download Zoom, go to zoom.us. The link to the zoom program is included in a receipt after registration.

The Audubon Community Nature Center is located at 1600 Riverside Road, a quarter mile east of Route 62 between Jamestown and Warren.
