Last year, Spotify not only provided music for workouts and parties, but also for gardening and plant care sessions. The platform said in a press release that the streaming rate for its “Music for Plants” playlist, a collection of 100 soft tunes for green thumbs (and green ears), has increased nearly 1,400 percent year over year. It also found nearly three million playlists created by users involved in planting and / or gardening. Against this background, the platform wanted to further expand its plant content for the listeners. On Wednesday, it released its first collection of curated plants playlists and content that can be found on users’ Your Home Hub soundtrack.

To create this collection, Spotify reached out to a number of horticultural experts and media personalities to curate new content. In the “Parterre Paradise” playlist, designer Kelly Wearstler shared over 60 of her favorite songs that she wanted to play in the garden. Their gentle mix includes artists like Dolly Parton and Fleetwood Mac, as well as Drake and Mac Miller. “When I take care of plants, I like to listen to music to encourage the creative and healing process,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “The music nourishes me while I take care of my surroundings,” she added.

Meanwhile, Darryl Cheng, author of The New Plant Parent, has put together a fun playlist that “reflects the joys of houseplants,” as he said on Instagram. Because plants need sunlight, he adjusted his list to include happy tracks like “I’m Walking on Sunshine” by Katrina and the Waves. He also opted for songs related to water (think “I Love a Rainy Night” by Eddie Rabbitt) and the resilience of nature (think “I’m Still Standing” by Elton John).

In addition to playlists, plant parents can also listen to PlantKween’s new music and talk show: Green Girls Galore. The Brooklyn-based horticultural icon talks about mindful gardening in this podcast-style episode. “With this little musical plant care you feel good and have space for this green gurl in abundance, hunny,” he wrote on Instagram.

They love to find new design tricks. We also. Let’s share the best of them.

Other contributors include environmental activist Summer Rayne Oakes, who curated the Plants & Chill playlist, and Black Men with Gardens, who compiled the Back to the Garden playlist.
