Gardening Lowers Stress and Improves Wellbeing

Gardening will lower your stress levels and improve your wellbeing. That sounds logical, but now we’ve done research to prove it, according to an article published in Cities magazine. “This is the first time the ‘dose response’ has been tested on gardening and the overwhelming evidence suggests that the more gardening you do, the greater the health benefits,” said Dr. Lauriane Chalmin Paui, fellow and lead author of the Royal Horticultural Society. “In fact, daily gardening has just as positive an impact on well-being as regular, vigorous exercise such as cycling or running.”

I wonder if gardening would qualify as gardening. I would think so too, as I find it relaxing when I do something as simple as mowing the lawn in our Faribault house or on the farm. They look so good when you’re done and it feels like you did it! So this spring would be a good time to start gardening, maybe even a flower garden. Plus, you might be able to help bees and other pollinators too!
