DIMO, one of the leading conglomerates in Sri Lanka, continues to show its respected credentials as a responsible business with the launch of its brand new Do-It-Yourself (DIY) home gardening kits.
The virtual footprint reveal recently took place under the auspices of DIMO Chairman and CEO Ranjith Pandithage, distinguished guests, and a team of social media content creators. DIMO has built a solid reputation for unmatched expertise and confidence in a variety of sectors and has made a significant impact in the agricultural business with a vision to lead the next generation of agriculture.
The purpose of footprints is to promote home gardening as a family bonding activity that encourages the holistic development of children and as a means of relaxation that in turn provides happy and joyous memories and moments with loved ones. To make this easier, Footprints has made home gardening a very convenient process through the novel concept of all-in-one home improvement kits for home improvement, consisting of all of the resources needed to keep a plant from sowing to grow up to their fruits.
During his address, Ranjith Pandithage, Chairman and CEO of DIMO explained the importance of maintaining a healthy relationship with nature and the importance of spending time with family and loved ones. He said, “More than ever, families need to start connecting and building closer relationships with one another and with nature. DIMO believes that creating and enabling experiences closer to nature can help nurture those bonds and create deeper and more meaningful connections within the family. Essentially, footprints help to facilitate these two aspects and, in particular, to promote the holistic development of children. It is a known fact that the people of Sri Lanka have always had a very strong bond with agriculture and this has been passed on from generation to generation. Footprints offer the opportunity to translate this special bond into a great vision, to maintain and restore this tradition in urban households and thus to preserve it for our future generations. “
Asanga Ranasinghe, DIMO’s Director / Chief Marketing Officer, said that footprints have made home gardening a fun and engaging activity for children and adults. In today’s fast-paced world, where everything is available at the push of a button, nature always takes its time. Understanding and appreciating the concept of time is something we believe should be imprinted on our lives from our younger days. DIMO has now made it easy to reconnect with nature, and we believe that these unforgettable experiences will have a positive impact on every aspect of life. “
The Footprints Home Gardening Kit is available in two versions: “Nursery Care Kit” and “Complete Care Kit”. The Nursery Care Kit is a practical combination pack for the home garden that contains seeds, coconut pots, peat pellets and plant markers. This can be used as a starter kit to grow your own vegetables at home. This will make the plant easier to grow in the nursery. Once the nursery phase is complete, the nursery plant can be transferred to a pot, soil, or other growing medium. The Nursery Care Kit is available in five different versions. Each of the variants consists of three cultures (chilli, tomato, brinjal, cucumber, paprika, lettuce, paprika, pumpkin, kekiri, cucumber, bitter gourd, snake gourd and rich gourd)). The Nursery Care Kit is recommended for those who have access to a garden, home garden, or plant pots.
The Complete Care Kit is a comprehensive all-in-one combination package for practical gardening. It contains seeds, coconut pots, peat pellets and plant markers to facilitate the nursery stage of the plant, as well as a growth bag (growth medium), potting soil (soil mix) and fertilizer bags to accommodate the post-kindergarten stage. This is a complete kit that will support the plant throughout its life cycle from sowing to fruiting. As soon as the nursery phase is completed, the nursery plant can be transferred to the grow bag included in the kit and allowed to grow until harvest time. The Complete Care Kit is available in four different versions (tomato, chilli, capsicum and brinjal). This is recommended for those who live in apartments and at home with very limited outdoor space.
A series of “how to do” videos have also been launched and made available on DIMO social media platforms to help users better understand each step of the journey. Both types of footprint kits are available in leading supermarkets, e-commerce stores and at www.dimoretail.lk
