Between Arbor Day and the (hopefully) warmer weather, gardening events are blooming this week.
• Arbor Day could officially take place on Friday, however Dawes Arboretum extends the festivities over three days. Anyone visiting the arboretum at 7770 Jacksontown Road, SE, Newark can drop by the deck of the visitor center on Thursdays, Fridays, or Saturdays from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. to pick up a free tree while supplies last. • The Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Garden, 1777 E. Broad St., also recognizes Arbor Day by giving away tree saplings provided by Green Columbus to guests on Friday for the whole day or while supplies last. • Find out about composting options at an event for all ages and levels of experience on May 3rd at 6:00 pm Pickaway Agricultural and Event Center, 415 Lancaster Pike, Circleville. Food and drink are provided, and special activities are offered for children under the age of 12. The cost is $ 5 for adults and free for children under 12. • Start the season with small, locally grown flower, herb and tomato plants in the 5.
