DERBY, Vt. (WCAX) — State officials say people in Derby no longer need to worry about catching bed bugs at the local Walmart.
The Vermont Department of Agriculture received complaints that the store had bugs. A field representative conducted an investigation and found the claims to be true.
“We’re not sure if it was one or a couple, but as far as we know it’s not an infestation. It was just an introduction, and essentially an introduction could just be that a bed bug came into the store on a person. But the agency doesn’t think this is a cause for concern,” said David Huber of the Vermont Agency of Agriculture.
State officials say management has assured them they are working with a pest control company to get rid of the bugs.
