Sheepshead Bay residents are fed up with excess litter outside of a home where rodents and other animals have been dragged into their block.

The neighbors say the trash in the Ford Street house has been a constant problem for at least two years, and they say it brings unwanted animals to the area.

As the News 12 cameras rolled in, a tenant living in the apartment who, according to neighbors, is responsible for the garbage, began cleaning it up. The tenant did not say why he kept the garbage outside.

The neighbors say that if the tenant removes the rubbish bags, the house becomes confusing again immediately. They say they filed numerous complaints at 311 in hopes of a permanent solution, but add that calls at 311 went unanswered.

A spokesman for the New York Department of Health and Mental Hygiene responded to News 12’s inquiries about the house, saying, “The NYC Department of Health has issued two orders to improve conditions on this property. We’ll be conducting a follow-up in the coming days. “

The city’s sanitation department also says it must obey rules and laws as the house is private property, but says it has notified its law enforcement team that is investigating the situation.
