HYDERABAD: A policeman who is also a farmer’s son and is endowed with extensive knowledge of seasonal plants initiated the culture of gardening in the most unlikely places – a police station. The SR Nagar Police Station is now adorned with an abundance of plants both indoors and outdoors.

K Saidulu, SHO and inspector at the train station and the man behind the park, says: “Agriculture, including gardening, was my passion and made me grow various vegetable and flowering plants in the newly constructed building. Here, too, the staff coordinate very well and the result is a lush green landscape at the train station. “

Gardening began in June. Anasuya, a home guard stationed at the station, says the SHO always seems vigorous when it comes to gardening. After the inspector shared his idea with the department, it was unanimously adopted.

Saidulu says, “On a 2,000 square foot lot, a quarter of the land is taken up by the building and the rest is for plants. Two people interested in the initiative invest two hours of their time in the initiative every day. “
