Man Assaulted with Gardening Trowel throughout Dwelling Invasion in Chesterfield Township

CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI – On Sunday, July 11, 2021 at 9:50 a.m., Chesterfield Police received a call regarding a man who owned an apartment on Block 49000 owned by Michelle Ann Dr.

The caller reported that the man attacked another man with a gardener’s trowel and asked for money. The victim consented and gave the suspect his money and ATM card. The suspect fled the apartment on foot when Chesterfield officials in the area reacted.

At around 10:00 am, officials were called to the Chesterfield Road and Gratiot Avenue area of ​​a suspicious vehicle fire. The officers checked the video at the scene of the fire and found that the suspect involved in the search was also responsible for the fire.

A K-9 and a CBP Air and Marine Operations (AMO) helicopter with thermal imaging have been requested to the area. The suspect was located by officials and arrested after a short chase.

The suspect has been charged on multiple charges, including home burglary, criminal assault, arson and attempted break-in. The suspect is currently being held in the Macomb County Jail.
