NEW KENT COUNTY – Louise Lillian Christian, 86, of New Kent County, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Saunders Exodus and Marie Ruth Winfree Meekins.
At a young age she confessed her life to Christ and joined Ebenezer Baptist Church in Lanexa, Virginia, where she remained a loyal member until her death.
Louise loved the house and garden, gardening, she had a “green thumb” and solved Sudoku puzzles. She was the neighborhood babysitter for so many families in Lanexa, VA.
Louise graduated from George W. Watkins High School in 1952. Louise was previously employed by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation at the Williamsburg Inn, and after leaving she became a house technician. Her grandson Kelvin “Mane” Christian Jr.
To preserve her memory, she leaves her devoted husband of 67 years, Henry F. Christian; loving son Kelvin Christian (Priscilla “Peg”), one granddaughter, Kellie Carter (Maurice), four great-grandchildren Nyaze ‘Christian, Isaiah Cooke-Bey, Christian Carter and Nicholas Carter, one sister, Hannah Blizzard, one brother-in-law, Charles Christian (Alease), a sister-in-law, Mildred Christian, a bevy of nieces and nephews, cousins, caring friends, and several special caregivers: Crystal Delaney, Geneva Delaney, Shirley Street, Tashawndae Baker, Marilyn Morton, and Sheila Akrie.
A memorial service will be held on September 11, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, Virginia. The tour takes place from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. before the funeral service. The funeral will take place at Rockahock Rd 14831, Lanexa, VA 23089 and the meal will follow immediately at Ebenezer Baptist Church.
