A Doncaster couple say they are experiencing quarantine hotel hell in Greece after testing positive for coronavirus at the end of their vacation.
The couple, who wish to remain anonymous, are currently isolating themselves at a quarantine hotel in Corfu, Greece after one of them tested positive in the last few days of their vacation.
They flew to Corfu for three nights and four days on July 27th and say their first experience was “amazing”.

However, they say things soon went downhill after testing positive for Covid and being sent to a quarantine hotel that they claim has bed bugs, “hideous” food, broken glass on the floor and is dirty.
But the couple say it was easy before and they really enjoyed their vacation.
The friend said, “The whole process from testing beforehand to the airport and the hotel was beautiful.

“We obeyed the rules, wore masks, kept our distance from everyone and washed our hands all the time.
“We went home for our tests. I’ve tested positive which I don’t understand.
“The doctor told me in the middle of the street that I was positive and then left us lying on the street for hours while they closed the doctors and went home.

“We were then instructed by Jet 2 to return to our hotel and isolate ourselves there.
“We then had a test at the hotel to confirm and it was positive again.
“We were then told that we would go to the Greek government’s isolation hotel, and that’s where all the troubles and poor conditions began.”
The couple were split into different rooms and said they cannot go home until they have a negative Covid test result.

But they say the conditions are dire and no one should be forced to stay in them.
She continued, “The food is hideous, the place is filthy, and there are bed bugs in my bed.
“We got separated and if I get a negative test result I can’t go home until August 9th.
“I’ve been in two rooms and they’re both so hideous, with broken glass on the floor.”
The condition of her first room was so dirty that she complained and was able to move to another.

She added, “You moved me and this one is just as bad.
“The whole room is filthy, especially the fridge, the bathroom and the table where you have to eat.
“I can go home on August 9th if I get a negative test result and my friend has to stay until the 13th and have a negative test.

“Of course we knew the risks of a vacation. It’s not isolation that is the problem.
“I like to isolate to prevent others from becoming infected.
“It’s just not the conditions anyone should stay in. That’s the problem.”
