BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bloomfield Beautification Committee laid out gardens at the Bloomfield Public Library and Bloomfield Civic Center on Saturday morning. The project, which began two years ago, has planted and maintained the gardens outside the children’s library, and this year expanded its reach to include the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial and the area outside the Civic Center.

The committee, which includes a number of avid gardeners, has designed the gardens to consist mainly of perennial native pollinator plants and selected annuals.

“This was a real team effort from the volunteers from the Bloomfield Beautification Committee, Public Works Department, Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department, Bloomfield Public Library Staff and Trustees, Bloomfield Fire Department, and Alderman Jenny Mundell, Nick Joanow and Rich Rockwell, ”said Susan Moseson, chairman of the beautification committee. “We are very pleased with the results that not only beautify the front of the civic center but also connect the pollinator garden that was previously created in the children’s library to create a pollination path from one end of Bloomfield to the other.”

Councilor Jenny Mundell, Liaison to the Beautification Committee, commented, “In recent years, the Beautification Committee has shown how parishioners can work successfully and effectively with the community to complete meaningful and impactful projects that benefit all of us. I am incredibly proud of this group for their hard work, grateful for all of their time and volunteering, and delighted with the results of their work today that the entire community will enjoy. “

The Beautification Committee recently organized a city-wide cleanup day with more than 500 residents (which they plan to host again this fall), spearheaded a green challenge signed by more than 600 residents to commit to eco-friendly choices in their garden in the triangle in just a few weeks Maintain on N 15th Street.
