Andrew Tate complains his prison cell is infested with cockroaches, lice and bed bugs

New Delhi,UPDATED: January 27, 2023 10:04 AM IST

By Tiasa Bhowal: Influencer and former kickboxer Andrew Tate is having a tough time in his prison cell, he claims, infested with cockroaches, lice and bed bugs. Tate, his brother and two Romanian suspects were arrested on December 29 on charges of forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit six women. They have denied any wrongdoing. They were held for 30 days and were due to be released at the end of January, but a Romanian court ruled their detention could be extended until February 27.

In his first email sent to fans from prison, Tate wrote about the condition of his prison cell. “You’re trying to break me. Thrown into a cell with no light. Cockroaches, lice and bed bugs are my only friends at night. When the guards escort me to and from the courtroom, I remain absolutely respectful. They are trying to spread hate into my heart,” he wrote.

In his email, Tate made several references to the prison guards, even claiming that they knew he was innocent. “My guards know I’m innocent. You know it’s unfair. They see that I will never break and respect my determination. Please and thank you, stay with me always. This is the way of Wudan,” he added.

Meanwhile, Romanian authorities said they had seized 18 million lei ($3.95 million) worth of goods and money as part of a criminal probe into alleged human trafficking that led to the arrest of divisive internet personality Andrew Tate.

Andrew Tate, a former contestant on British reality show Big Brother, rose to fame for his misogynist language and hate speech. He made headlines last month after contracting climate activist Greta Thunberg.
