- Mayor Eric Adams’ budget proposal includes cuts to many city agencies, including libraries and public schools, which would need to cut spending without cutting staff or services. - The new football stadium, to be built in Willets Point, Queens, could cost taxpayers $516 million over 49 years, an analysis by the city’s Independent Budget Office has found. - Some NYC lawmakers are concerned that the Lunar New Year, which is celebrated in the city’s East and Southeast Asian communities, will not have a day off from school this year, since it falls on a Sunday. (Spectrum New York 1)
- Ik! New York City was the second-most-ridden city in 2022, beaten only by Chicago, a new ranking revealed. The data comes from the metropolitan areas where the pest control company has performed the most bed bug treatments, but contradicts self-reported city statistics, which show infestations per dwelling unit fell over the past year from 17,000 in 2021 to 6,900 in 2022.
