Two Sacramento libraries find bed bugs in books

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KTXL) – The Sacramento Public Library said it is taking necessary precautions after two libraries had incidents this month where bed bugs may have been in books.

Library employees from two locations, Del Paso Heights and Cooled, discovered what they thought were bed bugs and immediately quarantined the books.

An employee told FOX40 that they had a history of issues with bed bugs accumulating in pads placed at the bottom of their drop boxes to eliminate noise. They’ve since removed the padding.

“We received an item in early July that was in question. And then, for the past week, we’ve had some materials that have come in and been quarantined and sent to quarantine,” said Karen Leland, security manager.
