STATEN ISLAND, New York – Rodents have taken over the housing authority from Staten Island, New York CityYes Grandma’s home, she told PIX11.
Yvette Berry worked from home during the pandemic, helping homeless New Yorkers get supportive services and housing. During that time, she had a constant battle with rodents that roam her home in Mariners Harbor 24/7.
“I feel like a certified mausologist,” she said. “I study their movements. You take over. “
Berry believes the cause of the mouse problem lies next door.
Hours after PIX11 left her house, Berry said NYCHA crews were visiting next door and she got a call.
“NYCHA employees visited this apartment on June 11 and were planning a work order to destroy it, but were unable to follow up today due to the resident’s absence,” said an agency spokesman. “We have a new appointment for tomorrow afternoon. There is no hoarding problem in the adjoining apartment, and we are also working on planning the destruction for this unit tomorrow. “
