Roaches, flying insects shutter popular wing spot for 3 days

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Roaches and flies have been spotted in several stores in this week’s restaurant report.

Buffalo Wild Wings on City Station Drive

In the kitchen at the airport’s Buffalo Wild Wings, inspectors found 41 small flying insects.

The inspector also found a live cockroach in the server station near the front door of the dining area, but bugs weren’t the only problem.

The restaurant was also fined because an employee failed to wash his hands after touching dirty plates.

They remained closed for another two days due to continued cockroach activity and small flying insects.

It reopened three days later.

Wendy’s on Max Legget Parkway

Wendy’s on Max Legget Parkway has been closed for more than 15 violations, mostly related to sewerage safety.

The report said three floor drains in the kitchen were secured, including one near the main cooking line. The manager stated in the report that he is constantly mopping the areas to try and keep the floors clean.

Wendy’s reopened the next day.

Zaxby’s on Airport Rd

Live cockroaches were found during an inspection at Zaxby’s on Airport Road.

The location was also marked for a staff member who only washes their hands for about four seconds. The report says the employee washed his hands properly again.

Zaxby’s reopened two days later.

Subway on North Main Street

This location was closed because the inspector found 30 rodent droppings in a cupboard under the checkout.

The subway reopened the next day.

Tijuana Apartments on San Jose Boulevard

Tijuana Flats has been closed due to flying insects in the restaurant.

They were able to reopen the next day.
