Residents demanding action after dealing with bed bug infestation

SAGINAW, Mich. (WNEM) – Saginaw residents are accusing a condominium complex of a bed bug infestation and are calling for action.

A man who wished to remain anonymous is spending a lot of time raising awareness of the bed bug problem at Pinewood Manor Apartments in Saginaw.

“I just want someone to help,” he said.

He has lived there for a year. He showed TV5 dead bed bugs that he was carrying.

He wants the building’s owner, the Saginaw Housing Commission, to do something about the infestation.

“It’s big business. My social life, my family, I haven’t seen people for so long, you know, and I don’t want to go into anybody’s house and give them these bed bugs,” the man said.

TV5 tried to speak to other residents but they didn’t want to talk about the issue. However, they said bed bugs were a problem.

“Disabled and elderly people, senior citizens, who deal with this person in this building, that’s sad,” he said.

The man said he went to the Saginaw Housing Commission last Friday with bed bugs. It’s all part of his effort to get someone to do something.

He wonders if anyone from the Saginaw Housing Commission would be comfortable living in the apartment complex.

“Just lay in there for a night. Do you think you might have bed bugs just walking out the front door? That’s all I want to know. And someone please help,” he said.

TV5 has reached out to the Saginaw Housing Commission for comment and is still awaiting a response.
