Three well-deserved community projects in Preston have been selected by Preston Dobbies Store team members to be shortlisted for Helping Your Community Grow, Dobbies’ pioneering community support initiative.

Launched last month, the program aims to work with existing groups to create 69 new or remodeled green spaces across the UK, one for each of its main businesses.

The three Preston projects were shortlisted because they best represent an opportunity to create improved green space that will benefit the area around the Dobbies website.

The three local projects competing for votes in Preston are the Freckleton Lodge Care Home, the Galloway Society for Blind and Kirkland, and the Catterall Primary School.

Kirkland and Catterall Primary School is home to an after-school gardening club, Catterall in Bloom, that the local kids simply love. The club needs some tools to empty the three raised beds, which are currently filled with heavy soil and weeds, and to plant some vegetables and flower seeds.

The raised beds are perfect for children in Key Stage One and also for those who have a disability and may be in a wheelchair to prepare a delicious soup this fall semester.

The Galloway Society for Blind hopes to visit and enjoy a scented area on their premises for all visually impaired people. To make this possible, the association is hoping for a donation of beautifully fragrant plants to bring this fragrant garden to life.

Freckleton Lodge Care Home looks after residents with mobility impairments, many of whom spend their days overlooking the gardens. The Freckleton Lodge team aims to provide residents and staff with beautiful views from every room. To do this, they need bright and colorful plants that attract wildlife. In addition to the plants, the nursing home wants to attract birds to the gardens with bird feeding stations.
