The Essex Wildlife Trust launched The Big Wild Seed Sow today – giving away native wildflower seeds to plant in your yard and save endangered insects.

The Trust says 41% of insect species are critically endangered and in dire need of our help.

The number of insects is rapidly decreasing due to habitat loss and the use of pesticides.

Wildflowers can provide food, shelter, and breeding grounds for insects, and by planting them in our gardens we can help insects thrive.

On their website, the Trust said:

“By participating, you are connecting vital insect habitats that enable them to fly, jump and flutter from wildflower to wildflower across the county.”
