Native Penn State Extension to host gardening class

Have a keen interest in gardening, a willingness to learn more, a strong desire to help others learn, and a solid volunteer ethic? Join in and start your path to becoming a Penn State Master Gardener!

Applications for the Penn State Extension Master Gardeners Primary School classes in Monroe County are now being accepted. Basic training begins in September 2021 and ends in April 2022 and covers the following topics: botany, plant reproduction, soil health and fertilizer management, composting, pest control, entomology, plant diseases, indoor plants, vegetables, lawn care, pruning, woody ornamental plants, herbaceous plants, native plants, weeds and invasive plants.

The training fee is $ 200 and includes the Penn State Extension’s award-winning Master Gardener Handbook, training materials, and webinars. Financial support may be available. Classes take place on two Saturdays a month in the Stroudsburg Extension Office, but can be held virtually.

Applications are accepted until June 15, 2021. An interview will be scheduled upon receipt. The interview helps candidates determine whether the Master Gardener program is a good fit for them.
