QUINCY – Bed bugs in returned DVDs have caused the Quincy Public Library to close.

NCW Libraries announced the announcement on Friday.

The library has been closed since last Thursday, the day the insects were discovered.

Two separate pest control companies confirmed that the insects were bed bugs.

On Monday, May 3rd, a pest control company was called in to treat the entire building as well as individual materials. Pest control is tracked to check the effectiveness of the treatment.

The Quincy Public Library is expected to reopen on Wednesday.

Bed bugs are a well-known health problem and can transmit disease.

Every book, DVD or other material is quarantined and treated.
