MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – A man is suing a resort in Myrtle Beach, alleging that members of his family were bitten by bed bugs during their May stay.

Michael Campbell’s attorneys of Guernsey County, Ohio filed the lawsuit in Horry County’s Common Pleas Court on Friday. The lawsuit named Patricia Grand Resort LLC, Patricia Grand Homeowner’s Association Inc. and Vacasa LLC as defendants.

According to a copy of the lawsuit received by News13, Campbell and his family were staying at the Patricia Grand by Vacasa on N. Ocean Boulevard when they were bitten from bed beds on the third night of their vacation. The lawsuit says the bugs were in the mattresses, sheets, and carpet in her room.

The lawsuit alleges that the resort acted negligently for not keeping the rooms safe by treating them against infestation. It also demands actual and punitive damages for alleged willful intentional interference with emotional stress, building liability, breach of contract and unfair trading practices.

The family also suffers from “severe and persistent emotional distress, humiliation, anguish, humiliation, loss of joys and joie de vivre,” which require psychological and psychiatric medical care and treatment, the lawsuit states.

News13 reached out to the resort owner, Oceana Resorts, but received no response.
