LITCHFIELD – Stephen Kassel of Chanticleer Acres will present the Modern Victory Garden program on Saturday, April 24th from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm at the Wisdom House Retreat and Conference Center at 229 East Litchfield Road.

In this program, participants will learn how to grow nutritious, nutrient-rich foods and improve the soil. They learn to design a garden that suits their resources and constraints. Topics also covered are choosing the best location, choosing the seeds, starting the seedlings, and choosing the best growing method.

Kassel, the chief breeder at Canticleer Acres, has a BS in Agriculture and Resource Economics. His passion for growing things had taken him to farms across New England and led him to study sustainable agriculture and the Mediterranean diet on Tuscan farms in Italy, an announcement said.

The cost is $ 40 and includes lunch. Further information is available at Weisheitshaus.org, by phone at 860-567-3163 or by email at programme@wisdomhouse.org.
