CARMEN KETRON Clemson extension
As many of you know, Tony Melton of the Clemson University Cooperative Extension Service has been with us for over 40 years. Tony has given us tons of news articles to laugh, love and learn with his expertise and knowledge of horticulture.
With great honor and respect, Clemson Extension says goodbye to a lifelong friend.
Tony’s long service and his immense knowledge and love for horticulture cannot be copied. This brilliance, combined with his wonderful nature and caring personality, tells you what a huge impact he has had on so many people.
If you’d like to send Tony a thank you and appreciation card for the great work he has done to the community over the years, please send it to:

On the side, I want to assure people that the column will continue, albeit a little differently. My name is Carmen Ketron, the newly formed municipal horticultural agent for Counties Florence and Darlington. I come to this organization with a BA in Political Science from Coastal Carolina University, an MS in Environmental Science, and an MPA from the College of Charleston.
I began my horticultural career growing mixed vegetables and cut flowers in the Tidewater area of Virginia, and then led community and university gardening programs at the College of Charleston and the Medical University of South Carolina in the Lowcountry of South Carolina.
