The Ohio State University Extension’s Voluntary Gardening Masters program offers home gardeners the opportunity to learn new skills for the gardening season in a monthly workshop.

The program, made up of volunteers who train interested residents in horticulture, offers coffee and gardening skills once a month from April 3 to October 2. Sessions will be held on Saturday morning from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the Franklin County Office of the OSU Extension at the University’s Waterman Farm, Kunz-Brundige Extension, 2548 Carmack Road.

During each meeting, participants can take part in small groups of informal workshops hosted by a volunteer master gardener. There are several hands-on or outdoor sessions in the gardens of Waterman Farm.

Here is a list of the upcoming sessions:

• • 3rd of April: Plant the garden during the cool season

• • 1st of May: Growing herbs

• • June 5th: Gardening with succulents

• • 10th of July: Soil studies for lawns and gardens

• • August 7th: Beautiful lilacs

• • September 4th: Plants of the autumn vegetable garden
