A group of green-fingered residents of a Grantham nursing home have started a new gardening club.
The residents of the Harrowby Lodge nursing home on Harrowby Lane meet once a week to tend the nursing home’s gardens, sow seeds, weed and water the flowers.
They have also grown a variety of vegetables, including tomatoes, green beans, cucumbers, and potatoes, which will be harvested later this year.

Local families helped with seed, flower and plant donations.
Activity coordinator Sarah-Jane Dixon started the club after talking to residents about what they wanted to do with the garden.
She said, “Many residents love to be outside in the garden. It brings back memories of the time in your own garden at home.

“The furnishing was great fun and the residents accepted it very much. It’s a very social activity. We always enjoy a coffee and a biscuit after hard work. It’s a great way to show how much the garden means to you and your home. “
