“Let the tree dry, put the branches in a chipper and let the wood chips rot before using them to mulch around trees and shrubs. If you don’t have a wood chipper, pine needles also work well as they dry quickly but decompose slowly.”
To mulch the trees, gardeners must use a shredder. Make sure they wear safety gear (goggles and gloves), they have to cut the branches from the trunk and put them in a shredder one by one.
The log is usually too thick to put in the chipper – this can be dried for use on an open fire, wood stove or fireplace.
2. Use wood chips for paths
