FLINT, me. (WJRT) –

One Flint man says he’s tired of clearing out the trash and rodent traps in his yard. He says it was due to the epidemic in his neighborhood.

61-year-old Johnny Jones says he struggles daily with trash that gets into his yard from a house he says has been abandoned and left to rodents.

“I was working in the back yard on my mower ride and I looked over and said, wow! And I see six or seven rats. “

Jones says he moved to his Wyoming Avenue home to make things easier for him in 2009 since he had a stroke.

Jones also owns the property next to a house where he says an unmarked RV trailer was abandoned over 6 months ago when he noticed the garbage was building up in the yard.

“So I talked to people. I said, “Can you get the trash off my property, please?” And they said it was not my property … So I brought the deed out and showed them it was my property. ”

He says he hasn’t seen her since, but continues to see trash in his garden.

ABC 12 reached out to the city to see if they were investigating that property on Wyoming Avenue. They responded in a statement:

“This property is privately owned. Our disease department reports that the first complaint in three years about this property was filed today. It is investigated for possible enforcement measures. “

Jones says he has had problems with this property for months.

“I’ve been complaining about this property for six months. I’ve complained about this property since they moved in. “

Jones says he just hopes that one day his street will be clean and peaceful.

The city is asking residents to report any problems with the disease by contacting the Disease Control Department. Residents can report problems with the disease by calling 810-237-2090, emailing FightBlight@CityOfFlint.com, or using the city’s online reporting tool
