Ahead of the Vice Presidential Debate on Wednesday, the question was whether Kamala Harris or Mike Pence would do an outstanding job.
Instead, the show’s unexpected star was a fly that landed on Pence’s head and sat there carefree for two minutes.

Who will land the interview with the fly? The drive time was amazing. https://t.co/ezp0R9bRH9

The unnamed fly generated a lot of comments online, and the word “fly” started spreading on Twitter. Some have suggested that conventional wisdom suggests that flies are attracted to feces.

A fly that lands on Pence’s head while he says “systemic racism is not real” is the way the universe says “this is bullshit”. pic.twitter.com/25dBH2t5zr

It wasn’t long before the fly had its own Twitter account – Mike Pence’s Fly.
While preparing for the debate, Harris and her team realized that women in power face double standards compared to men – including scrutinizing women’s looks.
But it was Pence’s appearance that attracted more attention.
Aside from asking if the Vice President has a fly on his head, people also pointed out the condition of his left eye.
Numerous viewers noticed that Pence’s left eye was distinctly pink in color, which led to a widespread discussion about pink eyes.

Pink eyes or conjunctivitis can be a symptom of coronavirus. Pence tested negative for Covid-19 before the debate – dozens of Donald Trump’s other contacts weren’t as lucky.
The Biden-Harris campaign picked up on the subject of flying with commendable speed: Biden tweeted a fundraising campaign related to flying (“Pitch in $ 5 to help fly this campaign”) and “flywillvote.com” posted on a website has been diverted to the Americans can register to vote.
