On April 20, the master gardeners at Penn State Extensions in Lebanon County will begin hosting virtual “office hours” for county residents to discuss issues related to gardening at home. This came out from a press release from April.

Although the Lebanon County offices are closed to personal visits, the master gardeners – trained volunteers who answer questions for the public, among other duties – are available to speak with home gardeners via zoom or conference call. The opening times themselves are set on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and Thursdays from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. from April 20th

Some of the subjects that master gardeners are good at include identifying plants and insects, caring for trees and lawns, pests and diseases, and other general gardening issues.

To make an appointment, interested residents should call the Penn State Extension office at (717) 270-4391. The office provides a link to the Zoom meeting (accessible via computer, tablet or smartphone) or a phone number to call. Questions can also be emailed to Master Gardeners at LebanonMG@psu.edu.

In addition to answering questions for the public, master gardeners also speak at events, prepare and organize demonstration gardens for viewing, organize symposiums and exhibitions, and work with 4-H projects, according to the Facebook page of the Penn State Extension of Lebanon County. You can find more information about the organization there or on their website.
