Mr. Kay’s was closed after a hygiene inspection

Environmental health officials inspected Mr. Kay on Walsall Road in Cannock for complaints about moldy pizza dough and poor conditions.

Cannock Chase Council officials then ordered the restaurant to be closed immediately after finding evidence of rodent activity, broken drains, dirt, grease and poor food hygiene standards.

District Judge Grego, sitting in Cannock Magistrates Court, issued an order prohibiting hygiene emergencies against Mr Raja Kamran Hussain, the food business operator, after hearing evidence of the conditions and reviewing a pest control report.

The order was issued on Thursday and officials are now working with the food business operator to ensure improvements are made before the premises can reopen.

Dean Piper, Head of Economic Wealth, said: “If we find conditions like these that threaten public health and safety, the Council will not hesitate to take the necessary enforcement action.

“In this case it was clearly necessary to close the store to protect the customers.

“Our environmental health officers will now work with the owner to ensure that the business does not reopen until food can be made hygienically and safely.”
