An uninhabitable house with termite damage and makeshift plumbing has hit the market in southeast Queensland.

The former hamster house in Caboolture was listed for an expression of interest with the seller Brad Shipway outf Harcourts Pinnacle describes it as the ultimate test to determine whether you are “a person with a glass half empty or a glass half full”.

“I’m not sure where I’m sitting with this one,” he says in a video promoting the property before putting on a hard hat and reflective vest to enter the three-room house and later the front door hits.

The property has dirty ceilings and walls, termite damaged floors, taped window sills, and an original kitchen and bathroom – missing more than a few tiles and some questionable plumbing.

Records show that the estate, which is an inheritance from the deceased, was last sold in 1994 for $ 98,000.

The advantages of the property include the fact that it has a ceiling, kitchen, three large bedrooms, a huge back yard, good zoning, and proximity to the train station and other amenities, notes Mr. Shipway.

However, the disadvantages include a bug problem, improperly installed plumbing, and the fact that the house is uninhabitable and needs to be demolished.

For those interested in the Railway Parade property, however, this shouldn’t be a problem as the 1,184-square-foot block is expected to appeal to developers.

Mr Shipway said the site is designed for medium density development up to 12 meters high, with developers building units or townhouses on the block, subject to council approval.

In the absence of comparable sales, the property was included in the expression of interest; however, smaller and similarly sized blocks nearby, zoned for higher density development, sold for between $ 200,000 and $ 400,000.
