BREAUX BRIDGE, La. – Breaux Bridge Head Start Academy will reopen on Friday after it closed Wednesday and Thursday due to an insect infestation that required treatment by an exterminator.
According to the principal of St. Martin Parish School, Allen Blanchard, the school was closed on Memorial Day Monday but opened on Tuesday.
When the school received reports from parents, the district hired an exterminator the next morning to deal with the infestation.
Blanchard said he wasn’t sure what type of insect was found, but it wasn’t bed bugs or skin mites.
He said the treatment process required a six-hour wait, but officials decided to close the school for two days for safety reasons.
The school will reopen on Friday and stay open until the end of the semester later this month.
