Social media showed us everything. From a little girl winning hearts with her cool dance moves to people walking the streets of NYC weirdly, the internet has it all! But this time it’s something strange! Recently, a video of a woman grilling rodents on the street went viral on the internet. While we’ve heard of chickens being grilled in homes and restaurants, these rats are “difficult to digest.” Even users found it strange as this sight was not common in New York until today.
In the video, posted by Twitter user Ian Miles Cheong, a woman could be seen roasting the large rodents on a sidewalk. On what appeared to be a public footpath, the woman rolled the rats, which were stuck to a stick in the roasting machine. Passers-by stared in shock at the lady, as did the person who captured the strange sight on the streets of NYC.
The video’s caption read, “Times must be tough eating rodents in NYC.” Netizens were shocked after seeing the clip when one of them exclaimed, “How is that allowed on a public sidewalk?! “
“We are actually ahead of the times here. Boycott factory farming and kill our own food. This is how we get closer to nature,” says another user. Some users claimed that the rats in the video do not look real. “They look to me like artificial plastic rats. I have no idea how that makes sense, but from this chef’s perspective, they look plasticky and maybe even melt,” commented one social media user.

That’s a Chinese, no? It’s normal in Chinese cuisine – Cristy0505 (@cristy_aya) December 6, 2022
The other set of users couldn’t believe it happened in New York City when one of them replied: “They look like cats not rats. This can’t be NYC, it’s probably somewhere in Southeast Asia,” while another user said, “That’s Chinese, no? This is normal in Chinese cuisine.”
