Tuam historian Catherine Corless has told TDs and senators that rodents gnawed on the remains of children buried in Tuam’s former mother and baby home.

Ms. Corless speaks to the Oireachtas Children’s Committee, which is today considering a new bill that could allow the exhumation of the remains of mass graves in the facilities.

The remains of up to 800 children and babies are estimated to have been buried in the Tuam home, and Catherine Corless claims their remains are being damaged by weather and rodents.
