Instagram user Babs, who runs the Brunch With Babs account, shared a DIY tip to keep mice away from your home.
The household expert recommended packing a combination of kitchen spices in a gift bag and placing them throughout your home.
“Mice have a very intense sense of smell and such strong smells keep them away,” explains Babs.
She explained, “In your favor bag, a tablespoon of red pepper flakes, a tablespoon of whole cloves, a cinnamon stick.”
The Instagrammer suggested: “You can put these anywhere. Like anywhere in your house, on your garage doors, and anywhere you have an opening in your foundation.”
Babs pointed out the added bonus that the repellent is all natural and will make your house smell like Christmas.
“This is the time of year when these little creatures seek food, water and shelter, and your home is in their prime,” she told her followers.
Instagram users took to the comments section to share their thoughts on the hack.
“These little guys come into the shed every year. They even ate the wires in the lawn mower! Pepper flakes are flying this year!” said one viewer.
Another person wrote: “We’ll try this year. Last winter we had mice getting into our cars. Nothing we tried worked. Pray this works for us!”
