Bank Street Patio Bar has reopened its doors after it closed last weekend due to several health check errors.

The bar, which failed its first health inspection on Thursday June 24th, attributed the closure to an “insect problem” on social media.

“We apologize for the weekend closure! We had an insect problem in the outside bar that was fixed, ”read a post on the company’s Facebook page.

The article further explains that the terrace bar occasionally presents “challenges” due to its external layout.

“As always, our kitchen is exceptional and there were no problems anywhere,” the post continues.

The bar was forced to close after a Department of Business and Professional Regulation food inspector identified 20 violations, including several high priority violations. These violations included rodent activity and small flying insects in several areas.

After the first failed inspection, the health inspector noticed on the second visit that a “closed” DBPR sign had been scratched from the door of the store.

The bar was inspected a total of five times, each time failing due to cockroach and insect activity. It stayed closed over the weekend.

Bank Street Patio Bar is one of over half a dozen bars and clubs that have opened in downtown Ocala in the past two years.
